Oh boy, traveling is still not the easiest thing on the body. Tip for you, wear slip ons and not your new hiking boots. I think I had to pull them off 4 times before I got here. Anyway, major delays in Buffalo and then again at JFK. Long story short I got to Iceland at 8am local time. And it was still pitch black dark. My body clock is a mess so I finally took a nap and when I woke up it was already starting to get dark again. A few quick snapshots and a bite to eat to get my head clear.
Food, free range and organic lamb with potato and small salad was my first meal. A nice coffee and water to drink. Absolutely delicious. You can taste the difference when your food isn’t genetically modified. This is also the fist time I haven’t been afraid to drink the tap water. Even the water was good.
This is just a quick post to get started. I’ll be back with more details once I get my bearings. But at least I’m finally here.

It has been too dark and too wet to take any pictures tonight plus I wanted to blend in better for a bit before doing the tourist thing.
I tried Skyr and pylsur (A yogort like product and pylsur is a lamb based hot dog). Both were wonderful and a cheap but healthy alternative to a restaurant.
The weather is like they say, wait 5 minutes and it will change. It has already done everything in just one day. It is clear that everyone has snow tires and most seem to be on studded tires.
Reykjavik is indeed a lovely looking city. I like it here a lot.
I am so happy for you that you are FINALLY there!!!! And so jealous/homesick/envious/oh-I-wish-I-was-there…you make me SO long to be there too. I know your expectations will be surpassed a million times now that you can see/feel/taste/hear/touch it with your own eyes! Pylsur? That is always our very first meal (usually at our fav stand in Hafnafjordur) and then a nice long nap is essential. Hurray my fellow Icelandic obsessor… ENJOY
