Nation is as Nation does

Another one of those ‘studies’ about nations has hit the streets, this time it is the ‘World Values Survey’. This time it is Iceland ranking high on the list of happiest places. Iceland always places high which to this writer isn’t mysterious or undeserved. Canada too typically places high on these lists. Not sure where it lies in this study but the last one to hit the local news was a U.N. funded study which placed Canada as one of the best places to live. So if you weren’t already happy and proud now you should be… cause they said so.

I’ll bet that if you live in a country that didn’t fare well on any particular list you didn’t hear about it. But like the Icelandic weather, wait 5 minutes and another study will be available. These lists are filled with general information of some value I suppose. To get the real sense of a country how about talking to the average Joe, Jan, or Bjarni. So over at Iceland Review is an interesting story about this list. Alexandra lists her reasons for being happy in Iceland. The sterile reasons quoted in the reports doesn’t cover the real sense of a culture and lifestyle. Alexandra hits the points that are of interest to me. Most of her reasons are what would make me a happy earthling no matter where I lived. Iceland happens to be a place that could offer me a very nice happiness index. Thank you IR.
