For the last week the weather in Toronto has been similar to Reykjavík. Today I could have been convinced this was Iceland. After several days of rain, snow, wind, and temperatures hovering on either side of 0C, we had sunshine yesterday followed by more wet snow. Today however it was the oft mentioned “if you don’t like the weather wait 5 minutes”. On and off again sunshine with fast insane weathermoving clouds, wind and then no wind, more clouds, drizzle, and light snow followed by sunshine again. But then all of a sudden the clouds turned black and the wind picked up and finally went to gale force strength with tree limbs and loose junk flying all over the place. Then a white out snow squall brought visibility to zero. After 15 minutes of hell on earth it all stopped and the sun came out bright and happy as if nothing had happened. The wind blown litter was everywhere with tree limbs blocking your way. As night fell the clouds thinned out but the wind came back and the temp has dropped. Yep, winter is finally here. Iceland had a head start on the goofy weather but we caught up and the biggest difference right now is that we have a few more hours of daylight and more trees flying around like the Wizard of Oz. This isn’t Kansas anymore.
