I wonder if Icelanders have a laugh at our twice yearly clock changes. Iceland is on GMT and doesn’t change the clock during the year. With the extreme change in the solar season at that latitude it would be folly trying to buy time. You need a bloody watch to know what time it is because the sun does a dance across the horizon that would confuse man and animal. But you are not one hour early or late because of some arbitrary time change.

This so called daylight savings time does not save time but it does confuse the heck out of people and machine every time. To further confuse matters the brainiacs in D.C. decided they would save the planet by saving even more time with a new schedule that is even more out of sync with everyone and in particular all the computers and software reliant on knowing what time it is. The amount of daylight didn’t change one second but I’m sure somebody somewhere decided they could shop a little longer with this free daylight compliments of their government.

Perfectly suitable software is now causing expensive grief all over this land. I don’t even want to talk about it except that it reminds me of an oft asked question. “Don, why don’t you wear a watch?”. My answer is simple: “I don’t have time”.

So what time is it anyway……. What bloody time is it anyway?
