I don’t know what made me think of this but in a galaxy far far away I was a little boy that spent his days exploring the world on his bicycle and climbing any tree that promised a view of the world. I can’t imagine letting my own children wander aimlessly about without a bodyguard.
One day I passed a driveway that had a chain across it with a sign that said “No Solicitors”. I had not seen that word and pondered what it might mean. I decided that if they were blocking the driveway it must be a fancy word for turning around. I thought that wasn’t very neighbourly to prevent people from making an innocent u-turn with their driveway. I wouldn’t be going to that house on halloween.

Next up, why does the U.S. call it Dead-End and the Canadians call it No-Exit or Cul-de-sac?

Gott kvöld hafrekið!,
Thanks for stopping by. I’m a gringo living in Toronto that often dreams of a life in Iceland. Iceland has been on my short list of places I must visit all my life. But now it is an obsession you might say. I *will* go there and if not for the lack of money and being unable to find anyone that will go with me to make it affordable I’d already be there or planning my next trip.
I figure that no matter what I’ll make it there this winter. It might be a short low budget trip but I’ll go crazy if I don’t get there soon. Then perhaps I’ll look at getting some work there if only short term. or longer.
Do come by again. Are you an Icelander living abroad?

oh, and agreed, there are some interesting Icelandic bloggers out there. Some are ex-pats living in Iceland and have learned the “Arctic Stare” and blog in an entertaining manner. I’d fit right in me thinks.

You know, the hostel in Reykjavik isn’t too expensive. In summer we camped there, on the lawn, but in winter it is cozy inside.

The SallyAnn is a good deal too. I could handle the hostel setup for a few days. I’m living in a single room now saving my money which is not so nice but a few more days is o.k.
I remember the first time I went to Canada and couldn’t find anyone to go with me so I went alone and had a great time. Same for Colombia. People can be such weenies.. Once I get there I find some great people that makes the next trip even better.
