The Asian papers and online news are filled to the brim today with the giant scandal about Bjarni Vestmann, Minister Counsellor of the Foreign Ministry of Iceland in Sri Lanka meeting with the Bad Guys (TM.), the LTTE. That would be the Tamil Tigers. Oh the horror! The shame! The nerve! How dare you! Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama while in Washington D.C. met with his counterpart Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Iceland on Wednesday morning. They strongly apposed the dirty deed of Bjarni Vestmann and promptly bent over to officially apologize to the Good Guys (TM.), the folks that currently run the former Ceylon.
So remember kids, don’t talk to strangers if your ruling class has labeled them as your enemy. But if you want to capture, torture, or kill them, well that’s o.k. Peace from the barrel of the gun and not the mighty word. “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” or some such lost art of communication.
I don’t feel like linking to the stories as written in the Asian papers, they are easy to find if you want. But this one on IR in Iceland is short and to the point.
