twonie, yeah I know it ain't a loonie.Everyone was waiting for the magical moment when the Canadian Loonie would hit parity with the U.S. dollar. Waiting, checking stocks, checking the CBC, listening to the experts, wondering what would happen. For me a .995 Canadian dollar was effectively 1.0 already. I can’t remember the last time anyone tried to segment a penny for me. I don’t move millions of dollars , euros, or krónur so a psychological precise 1.0 is irrelevant.

Doom and gloom was the forecast, yankee tourists wouldn’t cross the border, exports would dry up, and Joe Sixpack would be crying. So now the imports are cheaper and Snow Birds can more cheaply cross the border in the other direction. Banks, they don’t care, they do well from either side of the magic 1.0.

The Canuck buck is at parity and has been for a while now. Or…, did the U.S. dollar go down instead of the loonie going up? Or does it matter, the dollar looks the same to me, last time I had one to spend.
