The weather has been goofy for three years in a row in Toronto with damaging storms more common than years past. Manitoba is getting tornadoes more frequently this year. The south eastern U.S. is having an extended drought that is a real pain on the farmers and people in general. Nice but strange cloudsDroughts are eating away at other places such as Sudan and we know what is happening there. On the flip side there are frequent deluges in other parts of the world. Mother nature isn’t very happy right now.

I’ve been watching and comparing the weather between here and Iceland and have been tickled to see how often we’re in sync. Our winters were pretty close and Spring was late both here and there. But now the party is over and Toronto is under a massive heat wave. It hits you like a brick when you step outside. This is where we part ways with Iceland. The heat of summer hasn’t hit Iceland yet this year and it likely won’t. The locals are lamenting the absence of summer. I’m sure this is an annual ritual, wondering if summer will find its way to the far north this year. If it does it certainly won’t last long so they soak it up while it lasts. I’ll trade summers with my Viking cousins, I’m happier with 10-15c days than with 35c scorchers. Anyone want to do a work exchange? You come here to enjoy the humid heat that is so rare over there and I’ll enjoy the goofy unpredictable weather that Iceland is famous for.
