Purple PuckA friend of mine recently made a trip from Toronto to Boston to watch a hockey game. He isn’t a Maple Leafs fan but for this trip he would root for the Canadian team. Beer and hockey mix well but apparently beer’d up hockey fans from opposite sides of the border do not. One taunt led to another and my friend came back home proudly sporting a broken nose. He stood up for the hapless Leafs.

Then it dawned on me, he took a punch for his country. He fought for our right to watch Hockey Night in Canada, play hockey 12 months of the year, and to be free to be a Canuck. I decided that he had earned the Order of the Purple Puck. So thank you my friend for fighting for my freedom.

Are the handball fans in Iceland this dedicated? :)

with apologies to real veterans, you have my deepest respect.
