Thorri (Þorri) and the dark days

It is late January and we are just now seeing what I’d call winter.

Not so much snow but when the temp is -15C and lower it starts to feel like winter. Complain all you want but I am enjoying this. The ponds are frozen, geese stopped flying, snow isn’t melting, and the best reason; the sky is clear with beautiful views.

Icelanders are celebrating Thorri/Þorri which is an ancient tradition on the old Icelandic calendar. Over here in the west we simply complain. The solstice has passed and the days are getting longer. Look forward to the coming Spring and stop whining.
